MANDIANT Releases MIR Lite-CDT™

Feb 06, 2009
MANDIANT's free forensics software helps retail and financial services organizations find evil and solve crime.

MANDIANT Corporation, a leading provider of information security solutions and services, announced today the release of their newest free software tool, MIR Lite–Cardholder Data Theft™ v. 1.0.  (MIR Lite-CDT).

Since 2006, there have been hundreds of successful computer intrusions targeting credit and debit cardholder data from compromised networks. MANDIANT has responded to a number of these intrusions and learned that the attackers’ methodology, tools and tactics were similar at each victim. To combat this threat and specifically help retail and financial service organizations that process cardholder data respond to these attacks, MANDIANT has created MIR Lite-CDT.

MIR Lite-CDT is a command line utility based on technology from MANDIANT’s Intelligent Response enterprise product.  By looking for over 115 indicators of compromise, MIR Lite-CDT quickly identifies systems compromised by this specific signature set.  A “hit” with MIR Lite-CDT infers it is highly probable that the system is compromised and that additional inspection is warranted.

Kevin Mandia, President and CEO of MANDIANT noted that, “MANDIANT has always helped our clients find evil and solve crime. MIR Lite-CDT helps them find evil faster.”
