Unlike most cyber criminals, APT attackers pursue their objectives over months or years. They adapt to cyber defenses and frequently retarget the same victim.

Just because you have APT-linked malware variants in your system doesn't mean that you're an APT target. But your security team should be aware of this list of the most active APT groups and take extra precautions when they detect malware linked to previous APT attacks.
kristen.todd Uncategorized (UNC) Threat Groups
An uncategorized (UNC) threat group is a cluster of cyber intrusion activity which includes observable artifacts such as adversary infrastructure, tools, and attack patterns, but is not yet classified as an advanced persistent threat (APT) or financially motivated (FIN) group. As more artifacts and analysis are collected on these UNC groups, Mandiant Threat Intelligence may merge these activity sets with other UNC groups or reclassify them during the graduation process as a temporary (TEMP), APT or FIN group.

Learn How Mandiant Tracks UNCs
kristen.todd What is a Zero-Day Exploit?
Learn what zero-day exploits are and how threat actors are using them.
kristen.todd Protecting Your Cyber Assets and Critical Data
What is cyber security and why is it critical?
kristen.todd
