In the first week of May 2016, FireEye’s DTI identified a wave of emails containing malicious attachments being sent to multiple banks in the Middle East region. The threat actors appear to be performing initial reconnaissance against would-be targets, and the attacks caught our attention since they were using unique scripts not commonly seen in crimeware campaigns.

As Executive Vice President of Service Delivery, Jurgen oversees the company’s delivery of all consulting and managed services for Mandiant. He joined Mandiant in 2014 as Vice President, responsible for consulting worldwide. Jurgen has over 18 years of experience in the information security industry with a broad range of security consulting services including incident response, proactive and strategic services, as well as application and network security.  Prior to Mandiant, Jurgen was the Managing Director at Verizon Business, managing the professional security services threat and vulnerability practice. Before Verizon Business had acquired Cybertrust, he was heavily involved in the designing and deploying of their managed security solutions. Jurgen holds a master’s degree in computer software engineering and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
